A colonial revolutionary crosses a cold, icy river during a frigid winter as he searches for the New World. As I was painting this, I realized how close it is to July 4th, so I was happy for the coincidence, as this was not meant to be a picture for Independence Day. Either way, happy July 4th! :D You didn't know our founding fathers were dogs? :)

For the first time in a long time, I am very happy with out this came out. I really like the new texture I was experimenting with!

I like how this one came out too - the fog helps to create the illusion of depth, and it's a wonderful character design too! Lovely detailing.

Thank you hun! :)

Instead of doing fur texture, I just did an illusion of it. I was able to spend less time working on the fur and more time on detail. I also like how crisp it came out due to that technique. It's fun to experiment. :) I'm thinking about putting this one up for critique in the forum.

Well I can certainly say your fur ability is much improved, lot less shiny than prior, assuming the fog isn't already dulling it aha. Fog is one of thsoe weather statues which is a tricky blighter to pull off but it really does look like the majority of British mornings! Damn I love his outfit :)

I presume there's not much round his head as you didn't want to obscure too much mind? Given it looks fairly deep fog, it doesn't take much prisoner wise unless of course it's starting to burn back.

Thank you so much. :) I think this one looks more "crisp" than my other ones. :D Oh man, that outfit was so fun to draw! I really just wanted to draw a dog in a petticoat and tricorn hat, and this was the end result. lol Yes, I pulled back the fog away from his face so it wouldn't hide him. I guess we can just say the fog is burning away. :) Thank you so much for the compliment. This is the EASIEST fur technique... and strangely, I really didn't paint very much fur on him. With all of the positive responses I am getting, and with how much I enjoyed this technique, I may just stick with it. :)

Thank you so much hun! :) Normally, I use such bright colors, but I was really wanting to do a subtle piece. I'll tell ya, it sure was easier on my eyes to paint this. :)

This has such a great atmosphere- very mysterious :) He looks so cute in that outfit, and the expression on his face is extremely well done.

This is a lovely mix of almost cartoony, rich colors, and a detailed figure. Love the fog, and the dog's expression.
